The MENS project aims to promote the role of sport and exercise in the prevention and treatment of mental illness. To date, there is no comprehensive and widespread documentation on the importance and effects of sport in mental illnesses and there are no specific cross-sector policies to encourage the integration of sporting activities in the rehabilitation processes of mental patients. We also need to consider the lack of experience of health professionals in integrating sports into current care and the stigma still associated with current therapeutic procedures.
AIMS:
- REALIZE a sensitization partner on the value of sport to support mental health
- CONTRIBUTE to the definition of policies to support sport and physical activity as preventive tools
- ESTABLISHING a European Network, as an instrument connecting sports and mental health
