A representative from Palestine, Jordan and Cyprus, partner countries of the PROMEDHE project, will participate in the STORM Summer School 2017, to take place in Rome next 11-13 September at the Istituto Superiore Antincendi. STORM (Safeguarding Cultural Heritage through Technical and Organizational Resources Management) is a project co-financed by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union that focuses on improving existing processes related to prevention, intervention and policies for the conservation of cultural heritage under climate changes and during natural disasters (STORM project’s website: http://www.storm-project.eu/overview/).
The STORM Summer School 2017 provides both lectures and exercise sessions, aimed at illustrating a set of novel predictive models and improved non-invasive and non-destructive methods of survey and diagnosis, for effective prediction of environmental changes and for revealing threats to cultural heritage sites.
PROMEDHE’s representatives will have the chance to increase their knowledge on the technologies used to predict disasters and implement damage control, as well as on the operational procedures in case of emergency – such as building safety interventions, conservation and management of books and paper documents , and protection of frescoes.
